• Local Processing Only: All sensitive data processing happens on your device
• No Cloud Storage: We don't upload or store your content
• Encryption: Any settings are stored using browser-standard encryption

8. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

We operate from the United States. By using PrePrompt, you consent to processing in the United States. We use standard contractual clauses for EU data transfers where applicable.

9. CHROME EXTENSION PERMISSIONS

Our extension requires certain permissions:

• Host Permissions: Access to AI platform pages only when you activate PrePrompt
• Storage: Local storage for your settings and preferences
• Active Tab: To analyze content only on the current tab when activated

We DO NOT:

• Access your browsing history
• Read data from other websites
• Track your activity across sites
• Modify websites without your action

10. DESKTOP APPLICATION

File Processing

• All files are processed locally on your computer
• Original files are never modified or accessed without your permission
• Temporary files created during processing are automatically deleted
• No files are ever uploaded to our servers
• Processed files remain entirely under your control
• File metadata (name, size, type) may be logged locally for functionality

System Permissions

Our desktop application requires these permissions:

• File system access: To read files you select and save processed versions
• Native messaging: To communicate with the Chrome extension
• Temporary folder access: To create working copies during processing

The desktop app does NOT:

• Access files outside of what you explicitly select
• Monitor or access other applications
• Connect to the internet except for version checks
• Store or transmit your file contents
• Access system files or personal folders without permission

Detection Technology

PrePrompt uses Microsoft Presidio, an open-source data protection SDK, for enhanced PII detection. All processing happens locally on your device. Learn more at microsoft.github.io/presidio.

Advanced Detection (Optional)

• Enhanced detection uses Microsoft Presidio (open source)
• Runs entirely offline on your device
• No external API calls for detection
• Can be disabled in application settings
• Improves accuracy for certain data types

11. DATA RETENTION

• Email Addresses: Until you request deletion or unsubscribe
• Support Tickets: 2 years for legal compliance
• Analytics Data: Anonymous, aggregated, retained for 2 years
• Your Content: Never stored - processed and immediately discarded
• Desktop app temporary files: Deleted immediately after processing
• Desktop app settings: Stored locally until app uninstallation
• No cloud backup of desktop app data

We may update this Privacy Policy. We'll notify you of material changes via:

• Email (if you've provided one)
• Prominent notice in the extension
• Update notice on our website
